Dedicated to delivering excellence, I am an accountant and finance professional passionate about diligent work. As a career professional, I aspire to continue excelling in my role, leveraging my analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to positive interpersonal relationships.

As a result of my dedication to excellence, I have achieved several accomplishments throughout my journey. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. Augustine University. Additionally, I am proficient in various software tools, such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Silverware POS and Opera. My proficiency in these areas enables me to navigate intricate financial landscapes easily. Having achieved the Manage Your Business Using QuickBooks Certification indicates that I am adept at optimizing financial processes and elevating operational efficiency using this platform. Additionally, I am a Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) with expertise in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Ethics, Fraud, and Internal Controls. Throughout my career, I have also participated in numerous leadership workshops that have helped me to nurture a positive workplace culture. Streamline clarity through a shared vision and generate results through zoom-focused actions.

I am the past president of the Kiwanis Club of Providenciales Turks and Caicos Islands and currently serve as Treasurer and Key Club Advisor. I am privileged to serve as the Assistant National Women's Ministry Leader for the Church of God Prophecy Turks and Caicos. I foster relationships between individuals and churches.

Besides navigating finances daily, I am passionate about civic duty. As the founder of Beloved Daughters, a non-profit organization that helps single mothers, I am dedicated to helping them. As a civic-minded individual who experienced single parenting, I saw the need for a structured support system. As a result, mothers will raise Kingdom children who are better citizens.

Sonia Heastie

Sonia Heastie – Malcolm is a Bahamian by birth who has lived in Turks and Caicos for the past 20yrs.

She is the co-owner of Equilibrium Spa along with her husband Deveraux Malcolm. Sonia is biological mother to her daughter, Richea , and also parents Chadev and Leah. She has a grand daughter, Cali Rae.

Sonia began her career as a Spa therapist in 1989 in Nassau. She later had a shift in jobs and joined the Activities and Social Host team at Merv Griffin’s Resort and Casino on Paradise Island in 1991. After 2 years on that team, she transferred to the Spa and later took a study leave to further her studies in Massage therapy and Esthetics at the Florida Institute of Massage and Esthetics, where she did in-depth studies to become a US licensed therapist. Sonia returned to the Bahamas and continued at the then Atlantis Resort in the Spa. She continued in the same career path after relocating to Turks and Caicos, where she has worked at the Grace Bay Club for 16yrs, the last 2 yrs as Spa and Boutique manager, before leaving in 2019 to begin her own day spa, along with Deveraux.

Her passion outside of work has been serving in her church, the Seventh-Day Adventist faith, in the Youth, Stewardship, and now Sabbath School Depts. Nothing is more exciting than talking about her Christian journey and telling others what the Lord has done for her while encouraging them in their life’s journey.

Growing up in the islands as the eldest child, I understood the value of hard work and dedication.

After graduating high school, I entered the work force and became a banker, now retired. With over Twenty Years of experience in banking in the Bahamas and in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and over Twenty years' experience in Accounting and Management in the Bahamas, I had the ability to make customers feel at ease, as well as the ability to think outside the box, has earned me a stellar reputation and a recipient of numerous accolades and awards for outstanding performances. I attributed my success to Team Work and dedication.

While living in Grand Bahama, I was a member of the Toast Masters Club where I learnt educational organization that helped me with communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Here in Turks and Caicos, I am currently involved in a number of Non-Profit organizations including the Soroptimist Club of Providenciales, where I mentor young girls and served as a two-term President from 2017-2019. Presently I am the secretary for the club. I am also the Ladies Ministry Leader in my local church. Prayer Leader and Sunday School Teacher.

Being part of the Beloved Daughters Foundation gives me a sense of purpose, in fulfilling my leadership skills as a mentor/teacher on a spiritual, social and cultural level. It is my joy and satisfaction to help do my part in shaping the lives of our leaders of tomorrow.

By passing on my knowledge to the girl child and young ladies is very rewarding, knowing that I have made a difference in someone else’s life. I believe one of the better ways to embed knowledge is through mentoring/teaching.
